Prince of Wales Victorian Volunteer Light Horse
Received another picture from Alan Mcrae
Sean - Thanks for the info on the other photo - this is another nice photo (I think an officer) - again nothing known but had written on the reverse "Prince of Wales Victorian Volunteer Light Horse" the back dates it after 1874/75? maybe. Sorry have no more photos only these two but you are welcome to put it on your website etc Cheers Alan

A Sergeant of the PWVVLH a couple of years after they had adopted the Hussar uniform shown.
An interesting picture that shows the senior NCOs in silver or white braided jacket and trousers. The lower ranks wore red braiding and officers silver.
The cuff is unusual either being half white or short enough to show the cuffs of the shirt beneath.
Rank chevrons on the right arm only is interesting. They are probably on red backing material as shown in the illustration below taken from my CD12 Uniforms of Colonial Australia, Victoria 1855 to 1902
