Yeomanry Regiments

Please, do you know how to get info about the uniforms of Yeomanry Units of the British army?

For a foerigner like me is almost impossible to do that, and I guess that any British will have the way easier.

If any info means cap badges then the answer is yes, but as for uniforms I could only supply the odd illustration and that depends on the period you are interested in.

Amongst the most detailed sources would be the series of booklets produced by the Army Museums Ogilby Trust during the 1990s. There were 15 of these, mostly devoted to individual regiments, each profusely illustrated with about 30 pages of detailed text. In short the place to go if you wanted to know (for example) what the forage cap of the Staffordshire Yeomanry looked like in 1906. Having said that, they may not be easily obtainable now, even in UK. There are also several books specifically devoted to Yeomanry uniforms.

The wonders of the Internet however should provide a good deal of material. Since each Yeomanry regiment had its own distinctive (and often quaint) title, as listed in WF's link, punch each one into Google and see what the illustrations option throws up.

Good luck - Yeomanry uniform history is a bit like that of uniforms of the old Indian Army - immensely varied and changing frequently. In short a fascinating but frustrating hobby.
