WWII Nicaragua, Panama (and Brazil) Empty correction to wwII Nicaragua, Panama & Brazil

The photograph captioned "Senior Nicaraguan officers 1943" under the original post seems to have been mis-captioned by the author of the book from which these pictures were taken. I am sure these are NOT Nicaraguans. They look to me from the cap badge to be from Ecuador, does anyone out there agree?

Three of the officers have matching hat insignia, two don't. Maybe it's a mix of Nicaruagans and Ecuadoreans.

Interesting photos - thanks for posting them mconrad.

Slight mystery (where would the hobby be without them?) about the Panamanian troops marching in 1941. The white uniforms and cap covers appear very navy style. Now while the Panamanian Navy never ruled the waves, they did have one - from the the moment of secession from Colombia in 1903 when two gunboats went over to the rebellion. As part of a treaty of recognition with Columbia in 1914 the gunboats were returned and the Panamian armed forces became an entirely landbased National Police Corps keeping order on the boundary of the Canal Zone. Then in 1943 a coastguard element of the National Police was created and presumably these are the marchers in the photograph. All of which probably just indicates that someone got the date slightly wrong - or that all the National Police wore navy whites.
