Afghan Infantryman, 1926
This illustration is taken from a contemporary photograph and shows a well clothed and armed Afghan Private.
The uniform I believe is a grey shade of khaki. The cap is interesting and can be seen in later photos as well. The jacket shows a Russian influence.
He is armed with a 0.303in SMLE, perhaps of Indian origin or local manufacture?
He wears belt order only. Equipment varied considerably, as did the extent of the uniform.

The jacket shows a Russian influence.
Russian or British Indian, perhaps a mix of the two.

Very true, good point.
I suppose I was so caught up in the Russian influence I forgot the Indian pullover shirt.
