Zanzibari Infantry
Not the clearest postcard, but at least one of a very rare army.

KAR or Zanzibari
Had a note from a fellow enthusiast stating that these are more likely early KAR as opposed to Zanzibari troops.
Any opinions?

Re: Zanzibari Infantry
Well, I can't see the picture clearly, but from what I know, the zanzibari regular infantry wore an egyptian-inspired uniform, and those men seem to be wearing fezzes at least, so they might be zanzibaris....
And on the zanzibari army, do you know anything about their uniforms Sean?

Not a lot. There is some good detail in Peter Abbott's book Unknown Armies, East Africa.
The uniforms were very plain, white and khaki drill with a fez headdress. Officers had chest braiding and pillbox caps.

Re: Zanzibari Infantry
Thank you for the link! Unfortunally, it's imposible to see the details in the bandsman's uniform. Also, the site has a picture of zanzibari cavalry. Did they really exist? I had never seen any zanzibari cavalry before!
Also, did they have any artillery? If so, what was their uniform?

Re: Zanzibari Infantry
I found some informations about Zanzibari artillery in the time of Anglo-Zanzibar War on wikipedia: The sultan's artillery consisted of several Maxim machine guns, a Gatling gun, a 17th century bronze cannon and two 12 pounder field guns, which had been presented to the sultan by the German emperor Wilhelm II. Interesting...What about the artillerymen, did they have any distinctive uniform?
Also, does anyone knows what was the dress of the guard?
