1937 French Chasseurs A' Pied

A few notes about this plate here. The figure would more likely have been wearing natural colored brown leather equipment introduced during WWI of the same pattern worn here, and the Chasseurs were to wear khaki overcoats over their blue uniforms in the field. Khaki painted helmets were also supposed to be worn on active service, but many Chasseurs ignored that order and continued wearing blue helmets when they marched off to war in 1939. In fact the Chasseurs Alpins largely avoided wearing helmets altogether.
