RMLI helmets
..I know that the RMLI wore the white Wolsey helmet prior to amalgamation, but for a short time they wore the Home Service helmet with a white cover. Does anyone recall when and for how long this was worn?
Thank you.

RM Helmet
Terry,
I believe that there's mention of the tropical helmet been worn off the coast of Africa in the 1870s and also later-on in Egypt, white and khaki.
From 1878 the blue home service helmet was worn, the RMLI with spike and RMA with ball.
In 1905 the blue service helmet was replaced by the tropical helmet.
Then Wolseley helmet from 1912.
Someone else may have more accurate details.
Regards
WF
