PPCLI and helmet spike
I have several figures of the PPCLI but a question ensues. Did the ORs of the rank and file wear a brass spike on the top of the helmet and if so, when did this occur?
Thanks, from an unknowing Yank.

Re: PPCLI and helmet spike
wfrid....thank you. It appears that the PPCLI had a battle on their hands when it came to French gray facings, pags and the whole bit.

I only know the basic facts I'm afraid.
As far as I was aware the regiments facings never changed from French grey, given partly for going into the line shortly after formation in 1914 with the 3rd Canadian army, whose patch was French grey.
The order to change the puggree to white in 1927 was due to the fact that permission wasn't given to wear French grey, it was changed back to French grey after requesting permission after WWII.
