This is the only illustration I have of the Spanish National Militia. This gentlemen hails from Madrid, circa 1920s.
Can anyone help with further pictures and/or some information on the organisation?

National Militia of Spain Empty Milicia Nacional

This armed organization was settle in the first spanish constitution, in 1812. The idea beneath it was to have an armed volunteer military corp who defend the constitution against the ancient regime. After Fernando VII returned in 1814, was abolished, but in 1820-1821 during the Trienio Liberal, was again settled, to be disbanded and its members prosecuted by the loyalist goverment. When Fernando VII died in 1833, the Regent Queen María Cristina look for the support of the liberals, and to avoid the carlist pressure, the Milicia was reborn. Since then to 1875(+/-), was used by the radicales-the left wing of the liberals- to support by the arms any political quarrel, to be disbanded definetively in that time. Still exists as a non profit cultural association, keeping this parade uniform. You can see them on Madrid 2 de mayo Day military parade.
The picture is from Delfín Salas, a spanish artist.
