Latvian Army uniforms 1930's
Hi Guys,
Found these nice clear photos on the Corbis photo site and thought they might be of interest.
https://i.servimg.com/u/f88/13/98/25/75/1931_l10.jpg
This one is listed as being 1931. The man in the lighter jacket looks to have an Officers School badge and an older style of uniform than the rest.

This is a little later 1936, the cap is a little bashed but maybe this was the style of the time. It looks a bit like a Polish Czapska.
No idea what colour these uniforms would be but I'm sure someone does.
Regards,
Les

Latvian uniforms were khaki in an olive green shade.

Latvian Navy
Placed this here just to try and keep the Latvian forces in one place.
Navy uniforms changed between the wars, officers had gold stars on the cuff along with the strips.
This is what I've come up with for the period from around 1935 until the second world war.
My translations of the reference are far from perfect perfect.
It appears that just before the second world war (1937),the school of marine officers started, uniforms to include a 10mm wide gold ribbon, and according to my translation, which could be wrong, the uniform was the same as the navy officers, the more senior the cadet they were allowed to look more officer like, how ?
Here's what I've ended up with..

The old Uniforminsignia.org has Senior Seaman wearing a red fouled anchor in place of 1 chevron, and no rank of Sea Captain and it's corresponding insignia. In other words, it goes from Commander to Admiral. Not sure which is right though

Chris,
This is taken from an image in the book and what I can make out, unfortunately I'm unable to make out some of the rank names, others just don't translate into anything like RN ranks.
The ranks I've given the grades are just to show what I'm on about.....
Trying to confirm the illustration with the text is slow and painful as for the Petty Officer grade, that's also just confusing.

This is what I've come up with for the army ranks, Not sure how the cadets ranked in seniority to their regular equivalents, for example was the sergeant cadet senior the the regular sergeant or equal to them?
General rule I believe for continental armies, that when someone was selected to cadet status they gained seniority, could be wrong so I've shown them here as subordinate to the regular rank.
