I'm searching info (especially uniforms, badges) about Sarawak Rangers, Sarawak Volunteer Corps, Coastal Marine Service and police during the Japanese invasion of British North Borneo 1941-42.
Anyone can help me?

Thank you in advance.

PS. Sorry, this post should be in "Uniforms of the British Empire"

The Sarawak Rangers had been disbanded in the early 1930s, transforming into the Sarawak Constabulary. However, they were re-raised due to the threat to the island from Japan. As to uniforms see below.
The only picture I have seen of a Borneo unit is one of the Nth Borneo Vol Corps in 1940-ish. They are wearing KD shirt and shorts, and long serge puttees. A Wolesley helmet is worn, with a coloured patch on the side. The equipment is 1908 webbing, as modified in 1915, and they carry SMLE rifles and a Lewis LMG. I presume this was also the uniform worn by the Rangers.

The police also wore KD as their general duty dress, probably with a Kilmarnock type pillbox cap of dark blue.

Not sure about the Marine Service but most likely KD again.

Hope this helps

The only bit of info i've found for The North Borneo Armed Constabulary is that they had a strength of 650 in 1941, but nothing on uniforms. But were they mostly UK or Malay/Borneo soldiers? I assume the officers were UK or Indian. As for Sarawak at the time of the Japanese invasion the armed forces had a strength of 2565consisting of the Sarawak Rangers, coastal marine service armed police called The Constabulary which had a military section called "Force B",plus a native vol force. The Sarawak Rangers had a strength of 1515 from the Iban/Dyak tribesmen, and i haven't found any uniform info. This whole force was known as SAR FOR. I believe that during the 1950's Malaya campaigns the Sarawak rangers had a relaxed attitude to field uniforms ,the Iban/Dyak soldiers wearing bits of tribal costume.
