Hunting Stewart tartan - the Bombay Scottish
Somewhere, there's a question on why the Asian 'Scottish' units wore the Hunting Stewart tartan. Can't seem to locate it at the moment.
I remembered something from an old Bombay Scottish Journal (1916), and it states the tartan was chosen to 'get around' clan and personal feelings. It also made transfer between the Calcutta, Rangoon and Bombay Scottish units easier.
Permission for the Bombay Scottish to wear the HS tartan was given by the King-Emperor in Aug 1915
