A slightly unusual group photograph - troopers of the various regiments comprising the 14th Cavalry Division of the Imperial Russian Army, mostly in parade dress on the eve of World War I (when all that sort of frivolity ceased abruptly). Visible are cossacks (longish hair), dragoons (white topped caps with the braided edging on their tunic fronts that denote a former cuirassier regiment), hussars in dolmans and a rather uneasy looking officer in khaki service dress.
