Interesting indeed. I have seen photographs of the Palestinian Police in the late 1930s - at a time of general unrest in Palestine (what else is new?) - less functionally dressed in colonial uniforms and Ottoman-style kalpak hats of lambskin. As I understand it, they were a multi-ethnic force with British (some ex-Royal Irish Constabulary), Palestinian Arab and a few Jewish personnel. The kalpak wearers were presumably Arab constables.

The kalpaks were a carry-over from Turkish days.
It was a multi-ethnic force, and as such was stuck in the middle.
Had some interesting uniforms including mounted ceremonial, armoured vehicle and desert patrol dress, as well as mess and ceremonial uniforms.
I hope to do something on them soon(ish)
