I think it worth mentioning that the Royal Regiment of Scotland still lists the patrol jacket among the uniforms of the regiment, worn with trews, as illustrated above (by the company officer on foot addressing the mounted officer). Apparently, its use is very limited, probably to the adjutant. In any event, I happened to see an officer so dressed at a performance at Edinburgh Castle a few years ago.
