Nigerian troops 1966
The Images of Empire site is a very good, and hopefully growing, repository of British Empire information.
Here is one picture of Nigerian troops in a funeral procession, 1966.

Re: Nigerian troops 1966
The high collared uniform shown replaced the zouave jacket, fez and sash of the Royal West African Frontier Force, shortly after Nigerian independence (see Sean's very detailed CD). Reportedly when asked what had happened to the old uniform a Nigerian government minister suggested that the enquirer go and find an organ grinder - their monkeys wore similar costumes. In my humble opinion the old RWAFF uniform was much more picturesque that the new one but it is understandable that proud new nation states don't look back on colonial symbols with much nostalgia.
