RIFLE BRIGADE RANK BADGES
Gentlemen,
I have seen in drawings of soldiers during WW1 and WW2 that Rifle Brigade NCO´s wore green on black (may be on rifle green?) rank chevrons instead of those of rifles (rifle green on black) or the regular ones (worsted Khaki).
I have checked several dress and clothing regulations (and also Brian Davis book) and I have not seen any mention to that, so I will apreciate if anyone could help me and give me any clue.
Many thanks in advance.
Regards
Pedro

Coloured Rank Bades
Pedro,
Regulations for the clothing of the army 1936, if no expense to the public was incurred then full dress chevrons were permitted to be worn with Service Dress.

RIFLE BRIGADE RANK BADGES
Wfrad,
Thanks for your answer. I have these regulations and have not seen any paragragh regarding to the specific colours of rank badges and therefore no mention those of the Rifle Brigade.
Regards
Pedro

Chevrons
Regulations for the Clothing of the Army are a little hit and miss.
To get a complete list of the chevron colours and backing colours you may have to look at several regulations of the period including those for India.
Sorry but I’m afraid that I don’t have the actual regulations to give you the details.
As far as I can tell the chevron and backing hadn’t changed greatly from when the dress uniform was no longer issued.
The Rifles still had black on red/scarlet [W Y Carman].
