Hello everyone Smile Here are some Egyptian parade/dress uniforms from the era of President Anwar el Sadat (1970 - 1981)

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Pres. Sadat wearing a uniform with army rank shoulder cords, a navy cap, and navy sleeve stripes (!)

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Pres. Sadat, Air Force Commander (at the time) Mubarak, and another general wearing ceremonial uniforms. Note Mubarak's collar patches and shoulder cords are silver (for the air force), as opposed to the two others, which are "army" gold. Also his wings, and the riding breeches.

Pres. Sadat in another variant of the army dress uniform. Note the marshal's baton, with Field Marshal's rank insignia

Pres. Sadat in a proper naval uniform. Interesting (Soviet style?) shoulder boards

Air Force Commander Mubarak, President Sadat, Defense Minister Field Marshal Abou-Ghazala

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Field Marshal Abdelhalim El Gamsy, in dress uniform. Note the riding breeches, and collar patches.

El Gamsy again, his shoulder cords have the rank insignia for a "Fariq" (Lt. General)

Mubarak, El Sadat and other officers, in different versions of the dress uniform. (The white uniformed officer in the back is navy)

The collar patches appear to be interchangeable (?) As we can see Field Marshal El Gamsy wearing the same collar patches as Sadat, but then we see Field Marshal AbouGhazala and Mubarak wearing the same patches.

Also in the first picture, Sadat's shoulder insignia appears to be that for a Field Marshal (crossed swords in wreath with republican eagle above) with the addition of what appears to be two crossed batons underneath.

So, what do you all think?

Excellent, thanks for the addition. Unusual mix of uniforms.
Not sure if you can help but I seem to remember an Egyptian guard of honour in a dark green uniform with German M35 style helmets. Any ideas?

This is indeed the uniform used for a very short period at the beginning of President Sadat's reign. Have you ever come across a photograph from that era showing the guard of honour wearing the dark green uniform and the German M35 helmets? I am trying to find such a picture to partially illustrate a historic talk I am giving (nothing negative!), but all my searches have failed to produce one. So basically I am looking for help!

Thanks;
