The Vinkhuijzen collection of military uniforms - The NYPL digital collection

This is one of the truly memorable sites for a uniform historian.
I only wish they could put the whole of the collection on the web, it would be amazing.
Sometimes its slow to load but well worth the wait.

DAMN! That is impressive! Here's to hoping they can put more of that online. I didn't think the Persians wore Western-style uniforms before the 20th Century.

Ah yes the Persians.
An excellent field for further research.
They indeed wore uniforms at times and then at others were clothed in near rags.
The uniforms of the Imperial Iranian Army has been something of a project for me in the past and hopefully a CD soon.
Still a great site and well worth the visit.
