El Salvador Army, Police and National Guard c1915

Another colour plate from a 1922 Spanish Encyclopaedia showing the dress and field uniforms of the Army of El Salvador, police and National Guard c1915 (my guesstimate). The styles of the dark blue/black gala uniforms are very Teutonic - reflecting the influence of the Imperial German military missions that trained this small army from the 1890s onwards. Note that only officers had coloured dress uniforms at this date - other ranks wore spiked helmets or coloured peak caps with their khaki drill service uniforms on parade. The National Guard (number 19 - bottom row) seems however to have had a blue and red gala and semi-dress uniform for all ranks, as well as a light blue service dress.
