Re: Australian uniforms korean war
The Australian army contingent initially wore the service dress from WW2, a long skirted jacket that dated from WW1. This was worn with trousers and anklets. The slouch hat was the usual headdress. Equipment and stell helmet were of British design. Unit colour patches remained in use.
Due to the conditions and their availability, a fair amount of American clothing was used during the campaign.
Battladress was adopted during the second World War, fistly the drill version for training (and predominantly by the armoured corps) and later as a serge uniform. But it never replaced the service dress until about 1949/50 when it became the primary uniform of the army. It was used by the parachute battalion during the war.
