South African colonial units
Does anyone have uniform illustrations for South African colonial units like the Natal Carabineers, Natal Mounted Police (which was merged with the other provincial police forces to create the South African Police Service in 1913), Cape Mounted Rifles, Durban Light Infantry, Cape Town Rifles, etc?
Admin or Sean, I could provide some scans of pictures and info from some of the Osprey books if you need any info to make a uniform illustration.

Re: South African colonial units
If this is a cunning way of getting some illustrations...its worked.
I enjoy the South African uniforms as they are quite diverse and the two samples below are just skimming the surface. One day I'll do a CD on them, but its a little way off yet.

Re: South African colonial units
Thanks Sean, I agree ... South African colonial units had quite a variety in terms of uniforms; probably second only to the different militia units here in the US prior to our Civil War.
I can provide you with some scans and very basic uniform details from my Osprey collection if you wish. It seems that Osprey has actually gone downhill a bit in the details department recently

Re: South African colonial units
Thank you but I have the Osprey books for South Africa.
Yes they are not the books they used to be. It seems the breadth of subject is disappearing and they only concentrate on mainstream 'war', at least that leaves the 'non-war' uniforms to us to discuss.
