South Pacific, maybe Fiji
From an on-line auction, advertised as soldiers in Honolulu(!) Probably a photo taken by an American serviceman during WWII while in British territory, with an old-fashioned racist comment. Can anyone say whether these men are in, say, Fiji, or Australian administered New Guinea or Melanesia?

Most likely Melanesian, possibly the Solomon Islands Labour Corps or a Fijian organisation. That's my guess, more likely than New Guinea.
Could it be a homecoming celebration, with the wreaths around their necks?

The zig-zag hem on the sulu and absence of headgear seem pure Fiji to me.
