Has anyone come across any photos? The only mention i have seen is from "Uniforms of the world " by Blakeslee which mentions a grey green uniform, sombreros and black equipment. Pat.

Good luck finding any photos from that period. Of course I've seen Salvadorean troops from the 1980's civil war wearing service dress uniforms which I suspect were changed very little since the 1920's apart from them now being worn with US style helmets, combat boots, and web gear.

From EL SALVADOR IN THE XXth CENTURY, by Percy F. Martin, 1907.

No information on coloring. Apparently, there wasn't much to the El Salvador army outside of the School of Sergeants and Corporals. They took part in tactical exercises with the co-located artillery and infantry unit. The School also produced much of the clothing and equipment of the army.

Not trying to be a thread necro, but I have managed to track down some clear images of the El Salvadoran army c1932. There's some grim stuff out there.

Below is a link to a website in Spanish with an image from the documentary 1932 Cicatriza de la Memoria (sorry, I'm still new at adding images). This appears to be Salvadoran soldiers with prisoners during the 1932 Peasant Revolt.

The revolt was suppressed with enormous brutality, perhaps 10,000 people were wiped out by the regime. Farabundo Marti, an El Salvadoran leftist who had fought with Sandino, was executed and subsequently became the namesake for the Salvadoran rebel organization Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front.

The Salvadoran dictator, Gen. Hernandez Martinez, held on to power until 1944. The link below shows him in uniform, 1934.
