URSS and Warsaw Pact Uniforms

I open this thread hoping that someone can fill my personal gap about those uniforms, with drawings or photos. I've got some books from Osprey Publishing like "Inside the Soviet Army", "Soviet Bloc Elite Forces", "Russia's War in Afghanistan" and "Warsaw Pact Ground Forces". The plates inside the books are pretty good but lack of a good description of the uniforms... so please post here everything you know about this topic

Here's the Wikipedia page with rank table for the years 1982-91, just before the collapse of the Soviet Union. This is a good starting point.

What period, the books you mention is I believe are mainly seventies onward!
There's two books, one really as it’s a copy of the original with little added,
The British armies Soviet Army Uniforms 1961 and Soviet Army Uniforms & Insignia 1945-75 by Lt Col A,J, Baker.
The later is a little bit of a scam in my opinion, basically a black and white reproduction to the first with very little real information added.
Also you could try Army Navy & Air Force Uniforms of the Warsaw Pact by Friedrich Wiener. This may give a little bit extra detail than the Osprey books, but not much more.

I hope to find more detailed material than the usual books. Maybe someone got some kind of uniform regulation for those countries?

Hello if you go to "Military photos net" via the links page and put in Warsaw Pact ground troops -cold war in the search box, you should see loads of pages of WP photos plus illustations from the books mentioned including Albanian /Yugoslav soldiers. Also the GMIC website has some Albanian army photos if you go on the Albanian section. Pat.

I see that you are in Italy and thought this may be of interest to you.

This is the website of an Italian publisher offering a book on the uniforms and insignias of the Warsaw Pact countries .
The book complies all the offical illustrations for each country ,so that they each knew what their allies looked like. By the look of the samples shown the illustrations are from the 1970's and you may have seen them however I don't think that anything changed significantly ,except for the camoflage uniforms especially those used by the USSR in Afghanistan.
