French organisation 1914
At the moment I am working with the organisation of the French Fusile Marines Brigade (BDE) 1914.
The BDE consisted of 2 Regiments (REG) each REG of thee Batallions (BTN) but the sauces tells that the BDE had 7BTN.
The 7 BTN is called "regroupées", I can`t find any translation which gives any hint on the function of the BTN.
Can any of you tell me the meaning and function of the BTN.
Thank you
Niels

Sources and suggested further reading:
The following are excellent works on the French Marines in 1914 although, sadly, some are quite difficult to get hold of. Nevertheless, they are highly recommended if you find them!

regroupées
Niels,
My believe of the term, which may be as far out as Mars, is:
Combined forces, maybe regrouped into a regiment or battalion from former diminished units to make up a whole unit.
Someone else may have a more accurate or even the correct translation.
Regards
WF

Regroupées
Hi
Thank you
Yes I hope someone WHO know the French Military language and speak English or German could give the answer.
It is the only Batallion, out of the 7 WHO have a special name, the other 6 is INF/BTN and it is not a machinegun BTN.
