Please,

In these regulations, in the cavalry chapter, appears a frock coat used in undress whose description I don´t understand. I can´t imagine the coat it mentions.

If you are so kind to show me a drawing or photo I´ll appreciate a lot.

Thanks

Pedro

These images may give you a general idea.
Although not quite the period you wanted,  these illustrations are from the Pattern Book 1886 which may give you a little more detail that many of the paintings that’s around.

Wfrad,

Thank you for yor kind answer. It has been very useful for me, because I have got this Regulations but only the text. The preface mentions that the text is accompanied by drawings of all the items of uniforms, but I don´t have it. I´ve searched in the net with negative results. Could you please give me any clue about this?

I´m a very fan of uniforms and overall those of British Army.

Thanks a lot again

Regards

Pedro

DRESS REGULATIONS FOR THE ARMY, 1857 Empty Dress Regulations

Pedro,
The list of publications state that the 1857 Dress Regulations are illustrated, yet Navel and Military Press Ltd don’t make clear, at least it wasn’t clear to me, that the reprint doesn’t include the illustrated Appendix which was added later.
I don’t know of any available copies of the 1857 Appendix.
Many of the American regulations are freely available on a number of sites.  Typical of the British government, nothing that could possibly make money is made freely available.
Someone may have a copy of the Appendix, if not.
A trip to the British Library reading rooms may be the only way to see them, if they are available for the public!
Regards
WF

If you have problems with the terrible 'adfly' [http://adf.ly/246619/http://depositfiles.com/files/qu54m7zcd] edit out link too:
depositfiles.com/files/qu54m7zcd
Or,
Don't use the link below by clicking onto it as this also could also take you to adfly, if you copy and past it should take you directly to the download.
