Here's a fact that may not be well known. In a number of Hollywood films made in the early 1940's, Japanese soldiers are shown wearing WWI German Stahlhelm, turned backwards. One notable example is the climax of The Flying Tigers, where the helmets worn so can be seen on the Japanese anti-aircraft gunners.
