I am quite certain that this organization still exists, I believe they also perform palace guard duties for the Jordanian Royal Family.

Hi There,
This unit still excists but changed it's name to the BEDOUIN POLICE in 1989, see my illustration under Bedouin Police elsewhere in this section.
You will note that new insignias where created to show the New role of these desert warriors, the rest of the uniform is essentially the same.
They are certainly used as ceremonial troops on all state occassions due to their unusual and colourful appearance and are as well known in Jordan as the RCMP are in Canada. Almost every tourist brochure has a photo of them on camels.
