Google scans

Has anyone ever wondered if Google used any form of quality control when scanning books.

Below is a page from the book, on the left is the original scan and on the right an attempt, feeble though it may be, at correcting it.

Below is one of the better scans form ‘Uniform Regulations for Officers of the Fleet 1893’ held by the NYPL.  
The books original pages are far superior.
