New uniforms for Spanish Civil Guard

Spain's Guardia Civil has sought to change its highly conservative (not to say authoritarian) image with new uniforms being issued this year. These include green base-ball caps, polo shirts and cargo pants. Photographs show the new-look Civil Guard to resemble their counter-parts in other European police forces as the trend to casual dress spreads - distinctly unsmart but probably a good deal more comfortable. The historic three-corned hat will be retained for ceremonial parades and guard duty outside public buildings.
